As Fort Hill Natural Gas
(FHNGA) expanded their business, the need for a centralized
customer support system and the ability to accept online bill
payments was a natural evolution. FHNGA is a long time supplier of
natural gas in counties throughout South Carolina. They have a
proven track record of being a leader in this industry as well as
providing excellent customer service and support.
The Issue
Like many public service agencies, FHNGA had an infrastructure that
relied on many proprietary legacy servers to perform day-to-day
business. One off these, was the infamous AS400. While the AS400 is
a testament to long standing reliability, integrating the data on
these servers with modern applications proves challenging. Our goal
was to design a customer service account management application for
the Internet that utilized a legacy system built on the
AS400.
